Yes, really, I formatted the original hand-written poem with spaces between the letters of the title. I have no idea why. This poem is actually formatted fairly straight-forward (the last poem in the odd-formatting series next week is really bizarre and I figured I’d end with it), and the poem itself is pretty terrible…but I wanted to include it anyway:
O b s e s s i o n . . .
………………………….wall
watch the clock on the wall
………………………….clock
a passion with time
obsession
tick tock
the present has now passed into the past
and what has not
………………………….is………………………….future…
memories of
seconds pass
obsession
tock tick
we know not how many
………………………….there really
……………………………………………………….are
we wonder where the time went (it went that way…)
and watch clocks tick
………………………….tick………………………….tick
tick………………………….tick
tick
multitudes of idiosyncrasies control us
obsession
tick tock tick
we know not how many
………………………….there really
……………………………………………………..are
in a temple of purple prose
we lose to
………………………….a
……………………………………………………..valiant
…………………………………………………………………………………warrior
can we defeat obsession
tick tock tick tock…
