Monday Poetry: Falling…

Posted: February 11th, 2013 under Monday Poetry.

Continuing with the oddly formatted poetry from high school (fun with letter, word and punctuation placement but the poem isn’t actually very good…), this was an early attempt. Though I’m not really sure what, exactly, I thought I was attempting.

And, of course, when you’re playing with formatting on a computer you end up with what looks fine and the way I want it to look on MY computer (MacBook Pro running Safari) but might look completely messed up on whatever computer/mobile device you might be reading this on. I can’t even imagine what this might look like on an iPhone but I’d be willing to bet that the formatting definitely suffers. The most glaring example would be with the ellipses in the title of this poem. I have ALWAYS loved ellipses, it’s just one of those things. Even more than I love ()’s (yes, I’m a big fan of parentheses). So with Falling… I decided to type the ellipses in the title VERTICALLY (get it, falling? could I have been more obvious?). I am not sure if vertical ellipses have been done before, though I’m sure I could Google it. Anyway, lining up the ellipses so that they are perfectly straight is simple. ON MY COMPUTER. If the lining up of letters, words and punctuation (which is an integral part of this particular poem: it’s about ‘falling’ remember?) does not come through on whatever device you’re reading this on, please forgive me and pretend that they really actually do line up. It won’t make it any better of a poem, after all it’s not great with perfect formatting, but it’ll at least give you a taste of what I was going for. Thanks!

Falling .
